Obviously virtual machines are cool and allow professionals and enthusiasts, like myself, to get the most efficiency from their hardware. Containers take the concept of virtualization one step further to visualize and add portability to applications rather than entire operating systems. Some of the other projects listed on this site are deployed on containers (either Docker or IXC). As of writing this summary, deployment and management of containers have been in a CLI environment.
